Home Sweet Home Campaign “Schools That Care” Contest Helps  Post 9/11 War Veterans

Gilbert AZ - NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick may be living more than 1900 miles away from home, but he hasn’t forgotten about his hometown of Gilbert, Arizona.  Ryan, quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, took a redeye flight back to Arizona to participate in the first “Schools That Care” Awards Ceremony.  Ryan, along with three other local judges, was honored for his support and participation in the Home Sweet Home Campaign’s T-shirt design contest.  With more than 1000 elementary students, teachers and parents in the audience, Ryan spoke to the group about how important it is for us to support our soldiers in their time of need.  He also thanked everyone who participated in the contest and presented two awards in the following categories; Kindergarten - 3rd grade and 4th - 6th grade. “I’m trying to get the kids excited about it and they were very excited for sure,” Fitzpatrick said. “The best thing for me, and for other professional athletes, is to provide some dollars, a face or energy in order to get people involved.”
